BANGOR - Celia Segal 89, a Holocaust survivor died Sept. 25, 2004. She and her family immigrated to the United States settling in Bangor where they joined a vibrant Jewish Community. Well into her eighties she worked out of her home as a seamstress and a cook. From gefilte fish to strudel (and other good things in between) she shared many culinary delights of an East European Jewish tradition. She was active in both Beth Abraham and Beth Israel Synagogues. Celia was predeceased by her husband, Izak. She is survived by a daughter, Gale Albahae, and her son, Keith Albahae of New York City; a son, Dr. Harvey Segal, wife Nelly of Winterport, and their daughter, Frederique Daniel, and husband, Jarrod of Adelaide, Australia; also a nephew, Louis Segal of Bangor, who the family owes many thanks for all of the favors he did for her. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, Center St., Bangor, with Rabbi Fred Nebel, officiating. A reception will be held at Congregation Beth Abraham, 145 York St., Bangor, following the services. Donations in her honor may be sent to Congregation Beth Abraham, National Yiddish Book Center, or to the Shalom Fund of the Bangor Humane Society.
