JOSEPH GOPAN -- OBITUARY

 
Joseph Gopan, 47, of 88 Birch Street, proprietor of Hammond Motors,died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness. Born in Oakfield on October 31, 1918, the son of Sam and Fannie (Nisenbaum) Gopan, he was owner of Hammond Motors, 494 Broadway, and was associated the automotive business since 1945. Mr. Gopan was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue. A veteran of World War Two, he received the Purple Heart and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Shapiro) Gopan of Bangor; a son,Jeffrey A. of Bangor; three daughters, Samara A., Cheryl T. and Susan L., all of Bangor; a sister, Mrs. Esther Gopan of Bangor; several nieces and nephews.
